The Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition will be launched on 18th July 2024 for the Nintendo Switch.

According to Nintendo AU NZ (Twitter/X), on May 9th, it was announced that the Nintendo Switch will receive the Nintendo World Championships NES edition, set to launch on July 18th, 2024. This special edition will feature over 150 speedrun challenges from 13 classic NES games. You bring the competition to your living room, complete with players worldwide to see who is the fastest. There will be weekly global online leadership boards and local multiplayer modes for up to 8 players.
The price for the game in Australia is $47.95 on Amazon.
A deluxe edition set sold exclusively by EB Games has since sold out of stock, however, it is available here in My Retro shop with limited stock. Alternatively, you can check eBay for availabilities.

The deluxe set includes:
- Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition game card.
- A gold replica NES cartridge (unplayable) with a stand to commemorate the 1990 World Championships.
- 13 box-art cards of the featured NES classics.
- A set of 5 collectible pins
This deluxe edition will likely sell like hotcakes, similar to the release of the Nintendo mini-classic consoles back in 2016, which was discontinued a few months later in 2017.
So, as an avid collector and player of retro games, consoles, and related memorabilia, I personally placed an order for two sets with EB Games. One will remain unopened and serve as a valuable addition to my collection, while the other will be enjoyed for playing purposes.
Once again, it seems that Japan gets all the best goodies. The Special Edition of Nintendo World Championship, exclusive to Japan, replaces the gold replica cartridge with two Famicom Joy-Con controllers that actually works with the Nintendo Switch.
