About Me

Hey there, I’m David! Born in 1980 — the Year of the Ape  — I’ve been a gamer for as long as I can remember.

I was born in Hong Kong to a Taiwanese mum and a Hong Kong dad, then moved to Melbourne in 1988 as an innocent eight-year-old kid who knew very little about the world... except for gaming.

My retro gaming journey kicked off with the Famicom in the mid '80s, then came the Super Famicom. When Street Fighter II dropped in ’92, I was in grade 6 and my house basically became the local arcade. Friends I didn’t even know existed suddenly started rocking up at my door .

Fast-forward to today and not much has changed. I’m still gaming, still collecting, and still chasing that sweet hit of nostalgia. The games may be old, but the nostalgia never gets old.

These days, that passion has grown into a full-time business. I import and refurbish Sony PVMs and BVMs, work closely with experienced electronics technicians, and develop retro gaming gear for these legendary monitors.

From custom BKM-129X input cards with built-in Raspberry Pi integration, to RGB SCART and RCA mod kits, matrix switchers, and other CRT-focused hardware, there’s always something happening behind the scenes.

And yes… I built this website myself.

I’ve also started a Facebook group called “Aussie Sony PVM.” If you’re into that sort of thing, feel free to join! It's an Australia-based group for retro gamers, CRT collectors, and Sony PVM enthusiasts. While the focus is on building the local community, everyone is welcome.

The goal is to create a community where we can share, learn, sell, buy or trade gear locally.

Today, My Retro Game Hub is my full-time passion, and my goal is simple: help keep retro gaming alive while making it easier for collectors and enthusiasts to access the gear they need. 

About Me

• I live with my amazing wife and three lovely children in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

• I hustle during the day, and I dedicate all my time to family in the evenings.   

• Gaming has always been my passion, but finding time for it these days is a challenge. 

• I enjoy playing modern games just as much as retro. It's like coffee and wine: both are unique and enjoyable.    

• I can understand and speak four languages.
